Oracle Lifetime Support Status

Can't see your menus properly in Workspace?

New staff, an introduction...

  Oracle Lifetime Support Status

Time to upgrade?

For those of you running older versions of the Oracle | Hyperion Suite of EPM Products, now may very well be the time to start planning an upgrade. In short, if you haven't purchased Extended Support, then the key date you need to consider is when Premier Support ends for the version you have in use.

Premier Support - includes the updating the version with fixes and patches and certification for 3rd party products such as Windows versions, IE versions, etc.

Key Premier Support Expiration Dates/Versions to note are....

Any pre System 9 products - Already expired

v9.0.x products - Not supported

v9.2.x products - 30th June 2010

v9.3.x products - 31st January 2012

v11.1.x products - 31st July 2013

While Oracle will still provide support for products after these dates, it will be "passive" support in terms of being to access available fixes rather than developing new ones, and there will of course be pressure to move to newer versions where issues you may encounter have already been fixed.

So anyone on v9.2.x or lower should seriously consider what to do this year.

Technical Tips and Tricks

Here's an issue we've seen frequently at clients, and while the solution is well documented, sometimes it seems to slip people by and this particular issue causes a lot of low-level irritation.

Issue Description

You have IE7 or IE8 on your client machine and when you try to access applications via Workspace / Classic Application Administration / Application Type the resulting list of applications is not viewable as it ends up in a small box that may or may not show a scroll button, but that you can't manipulate to show the application names.

Issue Resolution

Open Internet Explorer (7 or 8)...

Navigate to Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted Sites / Custom Level / Misc

Enable "Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraint"

OK your way out of the menus and close and restart IE

When you access Workspace again, the issue should be resolved.
